SCAAS promotes a better public understanding of the cultural significance of science, especially astronomical knowledge, among cultures of the American Greater Southwest, past and present, by supporting research, education and the respectful dissemination of knowledge. To accomplish our mission, we hold regional conferences and workshops in association with accredited academic and research institutions, publish scholarly volumes based on those meetings and promote and respect the knowledge and participation of Native Americans in research and studies about their cultures. Benefits for members include discounts to events, a newsletter containing recent research, a website with members-only research resources and a professional forum for presenting research results. The organization continues to grow with 65 active members. We are embarking on a strategic plan to expand the contributions of the Society into the development of curriculum for elementary through undergraduate education and the improvement of educational resources for our National and State Parks and Monuments with a focus on increasing the participation of Native Americans.

Your financial support is the foundation for the Society to pursue larger sources of capital. Funds are needed to support development of our educational program, conferences and workshops, editing and publication of conference proceedings and educational resources and to provide assistance for our Native American participants. In an effort to meet this increased need, we have established a series of donor membership levels that provide increased benefits.
